Voq

Klingon warrior and torchbearer

Albino Klingon devoted to T'Kuvma who was surgically altered to become Ash Tyler as a sleeper agent during the Klingon War.

Voq, played by Shazad Latif, is an albino Klingon of the House of T'Kuvma in the 2250s. An outcast among his people, he is chosen as T'Kuvma's torchbearer and carries on his vision of a united Klingon Empire after T'Kuvma's death at the Battle of the Binary Stars.
After the war turns against him, Voq makes a drastic sacrifice with the help of L'Rell. Klingon surgery and a personality overlay transform him into Ash Tyler, a human Starfleet officer and supposed prisoner of war. Under that identity he joins the USS Discovery and falls in love with Michael Burnham, until Voq's memories resurface and he attacks the crew. L'Rell later separates the two personalities, leaving Tyler as the dominant identity while Voq's memories remain.
Voq is at the center of one of Discovery's biggest twists. The story of a Klingon remade as a human raised questions about identity and trauma that carried into the second season.
