Mary Chieffo is an American actress who made her screen breakthrough as L'Rell in Star Trek: Discovery. Introduced as a devoted follower of T'Kuvma's movement to unite the Klingon houses, L'Rell rises over the first two seasons to become chancellor of the Klingon Empire.
Performing beneath extensive prosthetics and delivering much of her dialogue in the Klingon language, Chieffo helped define the redesigned look and culture of the Klingons in Discovery's early seasons, including the character's fraught relationship with Voq and Ash Tyler.
