Kathryn Janeway's ancestor from the year 2000, whose real story was more ordinary than the family legend made it.
Shannon O'Donnell was a 21st-century ancestor of Kathryn Janeway, played by Kate Mulgrew herself. Janeway had grown up revering her as a pioneering figure in the building of the Millennium Gate, an early self-contained arcology on Earth.
In 11:59, Janeway learned the truth while researching her family history with Neelix. In 2000, Shannon arrived in a small Indiana town and befriended Henry Janeway, a bookstore owner holding out against the Millennium Gate developers. Her real part in events was far more modest than the legend, but her relationship with Henry became the root of the Janeway line.
