A Delta Quadrant species whose homeworld was hit by a deadly wave of asteroids that turned out to be guided deliberately by another group.
The Nezu are a humanoid people of the Delta Quadrant. When their homeworld suffered a series of devastating asteroid impacts, they accepted help from the starship Voyager, whose crew tried to break up the incoming rocks before they struck populated areas.
In the episode Rise, Voyager discovered that the asteroids were not natural but were being steered toward the planet by an alien group seeking to drive the Nezu away and claim their world. During the crisis Neelix and Tuvok crash-landed on the surface and joined a band of survivors who escaped by riding a climbing car up an orbital tether, a trip marked by sabotage and mistrust among the passengers.
