The Kes and the Prytt share the planet Kesprytt III, the open Kes seeking Federation membership while the paranoid, isolationist Prytt shut themselves off completely.
The Kes and the Prytt are two humanoid peoples who share the planet Kesprytt III. The Kes are outward looking and applied for membership in the Federation, while the Prytt are deeply suspicious of outsiders and keep their borders closed.
In Attached, the Prytt abducted Jean-Luc Picard and Beverly Crusher during talks with the Kes, implanting devices that linked their thoughts. After escaping across Prytt territory, Picard concluded that a planet so divided was not ready to join the Federation, and the Enterprise left the Kes application unapproved.
