Pre-industrial villagers of Barkon IV who took in an amnesiac Data and were poisoned by radioactive probe fragments he carried.
Barkon IV is home to a pre-industrial society roughly comparable to Renaissance Europe. Its villagers have magistrates, healers and teachers, but no knowledge of radiation or of life on other worlds.
In Thine Own Self, Data arrived without his memory, carrying radioactive debris from a crashed probe. The magistrate Garvin and his daughter Gia befriended him and named him Jayden, but when the metal spread illness through the village, frightened Barkonians blamed the stranger and struck him down. Data cured the village before he fell, and Riker and Crusher later recovered him.
