The Akaali are a pre-industrial humanoid people living in towns and farmland on a world visited by Enterprise in Civilization. They have no knowledge of life on other planets, so Captain Archer's away team had to disguise themselves as Akaali to walk among them without revealing who they were.
Scans had detected advanced technology in an Akaali city, which the crew traced to a shop run by Garos, a Malurian posing as a local while secretly mining a veridium isotope. Waste from the operation was poisoning the water supply and making Akaali sick. Working with Riann, a local apothecary, Archer exposed the scheme and forced the Malurians to shut it down.
