Humanoid people of Acamar III whose centuries of bloody clan feuds gave way to peace, leaving outcast bands called the Gatherers to roam space as raiders.
The Acamarians live on Acamar III, where they are led by Sovereign Marouk. Their society was once torn apart by violent blood feuds between rival clans, and although those wars ended long ago, some Acamarians refused to accept the peace and left to become the Gatherers, nomadic raiders who prey on outposts and shipping.
In The Vengeance Factor, the Enterprise traced a looted Federation outpost to Acamarian raiders, and Captain Picard helped Marouk open talks with the Gatherer leader Chorgan about ending their long exile. The negotiations were quietly shadowed by Yuta, the sovereign's devoted assistant.
Yuta was secretly the last survivor of the Tralesta clan, wiped out by the Lornak clan generations earlier. Altered so that she aged extremely slowly and carrying a microvirus keyed to Lornak DNA, she had spent decades killing them one by one, and Riker was forced to stop her before she could murder Chorgan.
