The former USS Titan-A, rechristened as the seventh Starfleet ship to bear the name Enterprise and placed under the command of Captain Seven of Nine.
The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-G) began service as the USS Titan-A, a Constitution III-class starship. The original Titan, a Neo-Constitution-class vessel commanded by Liam Shaw, was badly damaged during the crisis that dominates the third season of Star Trek: Picard, and the refitted ship that followed carried the Titan name until Starfleet chose to honour the legacy of Jean-Luc Picard and his crew by renaming it.
The renaming is revealed at the close of the series finale, a year after the Borg assault on Frontier Day. Seven of Nine, newly promoted to captain, takes command, with Raffi Musiker serving as her first officer and Jack Crusher joining as a special counsellor in an ensign's rank. The new Enterprise sets out for its first voyage as the series ends, while the restored Enterprise-D is retired to the Fleet Museum.
The ship's significance lies in passing the Enterprise name to a new generation. It closes the story of the Next Generation crew and points toward future adventures, carrying forward a lineage that stretches from Archer's NX-01 to the present day.
