The Odyssey-class was one of the largest Starfleet starship designs of the early 25th century. Its best-known member was the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-F), which served as the fleet's flagship and was due to be retired from service in 2401.
On Frontier Day in 2401 the Enterprise-F, commanded by Captain Elizabeth Shelby, led the celebrations at Earth. When the Borg took control of the younger crews of ships linked through the fleet formation system, the Enterprise-F was among the vessels turned against Earth, and Shelby was killed.
