A separatist movement on Rutia IV that waged a decades-long campaign against its government and abducted Beverly Crusher in 2366.
The Ansata were Rutian separatists fighting for independence for their people on Rutia IV, a non-aligned world. Their campaign of bombings had lasted for decades, and they used a dimensional-shift teleportation device called an inverter that allowed them to bypass security fields.
In 2366 their leader Kyril Finn abducted Beverly Crusher, and the Ansata later attacked the Enterprise directly. Crusher discovered that the inverters caused irreversible genetic damage to the rebels who used them. Finn was killed during the Enterprise rescue raid by security chief Alexana Devos.
