In 2154 a bomb destroyed the United Earth Embassy on Vulcan, killing Admiral Maxwell Forrest and setting off the chain of events that led to the Vulcan Reformation.
The blast killed many people, among them Admiral Forrest, who died shielding Ambassador Soval. Vulcan authorities blamed the Syrrannites, a dissident sect following what they claimed were the original teachings of Surak.
Archer and T'Pol went into the Forge desert in search of the group and the real culprits, and the investigation exposed a conspiracy reaching the top of the Vulcan government under Minister V'Las. The bombing was one of the pretexts V'Las used against the Syrrannites, and its unmasking helped bring about his fall.
