The return of Betazed to the Federation in the 3190s, agreed after Chancellor Nahla Ake proposed moving the Federation's seat of government there.
Betazed had left the Federation after the Burn, believing the alliance could no longer meet its needs. In the 3190s a Betazoid delegation came to the Starfleet Academy campus, and its president at first dismissed the Federation's requests to return.
Chancellor Nahla Ake proposed that the Federation move its governmental center to Betazed if the planet rejoined. The Betazoids accepted the offer. The president's son enrolled at Starfleet Academy, while the president's daughter, a youth activist for rejoining, chose the War College.
