Sisko falls for a woman who is not what she seems.
Sisko meets a woman named Fenna on the Promenade and they quickly fall for each other, his first romance since his wife's death, but she keeps vanishing and Odo can find no record of her. Meanwhile the brilliant but self-absorbed terraformer Gideon Seyetik visits on his way to reignite a dead star.
At dinner aboard the Prometheus, Seyetik introduces his wife Nidell, who looks exactly like Fenna but does not know Sisko. Fenna turns out to be a telepathic projection of Nidell, who is trapped in an unhappy marriage, and the projections are killing her. Seyetik flies the fuel ship into the star himself, reigniting it and freeing his wife.
