B'Elanna is flooded with the memories of another woman.
Voyager is ferrying a group of Enarans, a telepathic people, back to their world. B'Elanna Torres begins dreaming she is a young Enaran woman, Korenna, in love with Dathan, one of the Regressives, a group who rejected technology. The dreams become memories, and Torres learns they are being sent to her by an elderly passenger, Jora Mirell, who was once Korenna.
The memories reveal that the Regressives were rounded up and killed, and that the genocide was hidden from later generations. Before she dies, Jora shows Torres the last of it, in which Korenna's father betrays Dathan and she watches him die. The Enarans deny it, and Janeway cannot intervene, but a young Enaran named Jessen, who has befriended Torres, agrees to receive the memories so the truth is passed on. The third-season episode is a story about genocide and history being rewritten, and it gives Torres a role driven by empathy rather than temper.
