Shran and his Andorians unexpectedly help Enterprise in the Expanse as the Xindi test a prototype of their weapon.
Shran's Andorian warship rescues the damaged Enterprise from a vortex in the Delphic Expanse, and he offers to help stop the Xindi weapon. Archer is wary but accepts help with repairs and with scanning the site where Xindi scientists, led by Degra, are testing a prototype.
While Enterprise distracts the Xindi, the Andorians seize the prototype, intending to use it against the Vulcans. Archer threatens to detonate it, and when he starts the sequence Shran ejects the device, which explodes and damages his ship. Afterward the Andorians quietly send Archer detailed scans of the prototype. The episode was directed by David Livingston and written by Chris Black.
