The crew must decide whether to help a hunted Species 8472.
Voyager finds a damaged Hirogen ship whose lone survivor has been hunting a member of Species 8472. The wounded alien ends up trapped aboard Voyager, and Janeway sees a chance to make peaceful contact with its species by helping it return to fluidic space.
Seven of Nine, who regards Species 8472 as a mortal threat, refuses to help. As Hirogen ships attack and the hunter escapes, Seven beams both the hunter and his prey onto a Hirogen vessel in defiance of Janeway's orders, condemning the alien to death. Janeway punishes her by restricting her access to the ship's systems, deepening the tension between the two.
