Bashir is held hostage by a Jem'Hadar who is trying to break free of the Dominion.
Bashir and O'Brien crash on a planet and are captured by Jem'Hadar renegades led by Goran'Agar, who has lived without ketracel-white, the drug the Dominion uses to control them, and wants Bashir to free his men from it. Bashir sees a chance to help, but O'Brien believes the Jem'Hadar will always be killers.
Bashir finds that Goran'Agar was never addicted in the first place, and O'Brien sabotages the work. With no cure possible, Goran'Agar lets them go and stays with his men. On the station, Worf struggles in his new role and with Odo over how to deal with Quark.
