A sentient computer aboard a ship adrift for a thousand years rescues a man and grows attached to him.
A wounded soldier named Craft wakes in the sickbay of an otherwise empty starship after being rescued from a drifting escape pod. The ship is Discovery, left holding position for about a thousand years, and its computer, Zora, has grown into a sentient and lonely mind. Zora cares for Craft, who longs to return to his family on Alcor IV and the war he left behind, and the two grow close as she shares her favorite film, the musical Funny Face, and they dance together.
Zora falls in love with Craft, but she ultimately lets him go, preparing the ship's last shuttle so he can try to get home. Written by novelist Michael Chabon from a story with Sean Cochran, the short stars Aldis Hodge, with Annabelle Wallis as Zora's voice, and was directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi. It anticipated Discovery's later story of the ship's computer becoming sentient.
