Tilly meets a young stowaway from Xahea and helps her get home for her coronation.
After a tense call with her critical mother, who doubts her bid for command training, Ensign Sylvia Tilly discovers that something has stowed away aboard Discovery. A cloaked intruder causes chaos in the mess hall and turns out to be a frightened, injured teenager from Xahea, a newly warp-capable world. Tilly hides her in her quarters and learns she is Me Hani Ika Hali Ka Po, soon to be crowned queen, who has found a way to recrystallize dilithium, a discovery she means as a gift to her dilithium-rich people.
Tilly, who usually follows orders, chooses to act on her own to help Po get home in time for her coronation, and the two part as friends after Po gives her a dilithium crystal. The first of the Short Treks, released between Discovery's first and second seasons, introduces Po and Tilly's mother, Siobhan. Jenny Lumet and Alex Kurtzman wrote it and Maja Vrvilo directed.
