Worf attempts to teach the camp's young Klingons about honour.
Worf has followed rumors of a Romulan prison camp holding survivors of Khitomer and finds Klingon captives living peacefully alongside their former guards. They refuse his offer of rescue, believing a return would shame their families, and since he knows their location he cannot leave. Worf is disgusted to learn of Romulan and Klingon marriages, and he grows close to Ba'el before learning that she is the daughter of Tokath, the Romulan officer who runs the camp.
Worf teaches the camp's young Klingons their myths, combat and hunting. Ordered to accept the rules or die, he chooses execution, but the youths, including Ba'el, stand beside him, and Tokath lets them go. Back on the Enterprise, Worf tells Picard the young Klingons were crash survivors and that no camp exists, and Picard accepts his account. René Echevarria wrote this conclusion, the only episode directed by visual effects supervisor Dan Curry.
