A holographic singer who became a friend and confidant to the DS9 crew.
Vic Fontaine is a holographic lounge singer on Deep Space Nine, played by James Darren. He performs in a mid-century Las Vegas nightclub program, and he becomes a beloved confidant for the station's crew, offering wisdom, comfort and a classic song when they need it most.
He is first introduced when Julian Bashir discovers the program, and he soon becomes a regular presence. Vic helps Nog, who is recovering from a serious injury, gives relationship advice to Odo and others, and even takes part in a daring plan during the Dominion War. He is aware that he is a hologram and chooses to continue his life for the people who need him.
Vic endures as a charming, old-fashioned bit of comfort in a darker series. His warmth and style gave the crew a place to be human.
