Nog tries to cope with his injury in Vic's holosuite.
After weeks of rehabilitation for the leg he lost on AR-558, Nog returns to the station suffering pain and flashbacks, sleeping all day and playing one Vic Fontaine song over and over. He moves into Vic's holographic 1962 Las Vegas, and Ezri lets him stay to see whether it helps. Vic and Nog become close as Nog neglects his family and friends, and with the program running constantly, Vic has a full life of his own. The two plan a new casino, and Nog stops relying on his cane.
When Ezri reminds Vic that Nog must eventually leave, Vic shuts down his own program to force him back into the real world. Nog finally admits his fear of death, and Vic tells him that hiding would only make him die slowly. Nog returns to duty and arranges for Vic's program to keep running. The seventh-season episode is a rare Star Trek study of post-traumatic stress.
