Tenavik is the son of L'Rell and Ash Tyler, formerly Voq. In Point of Light the infant is delivered to a Klingon monastery so that his parents' enemies will believe he is dead.
In Through the Valley of Shadows, Christopher Pike visits the monastery on Boreth to obtain a time crystal and finds Tenavik already a grown man, because life on Boreth is affected by the crystals. Tenavik warns that taking a crystal means accepting the future it reveals. Pike sees himself severely disabled in an accident yet takes the crystal anyway.
