Elaysian Starfleet officer from a low-gravity world who served on Deep Space Nine and had a brief romance with Julian Bashir.
Melora Pazlar is a Starfleet ensign from the low-gravity world Elaysia, and she relies on a wheelchair and other aids to function in normal gravity. Fiercely independent, she bristles at any attempt to accommodate her, but she joins Deep Space Nine as a cartographer and begins a romance with Julian Bashir.
In Melora, Bashir develops a treatment that could let her live in normal gravity at the cost of her ability to return home. During a survey mission, a criminal takes her and Jadzia Dax hostage, and Melora overpowers him by shutting off the ship's gravity. She decides against the treatment.
