The most ruthless of the Augments raised by Arik Soong, who tried to provoke a war between Earth and the Klingon Empire.
Malik was one of the genetically enhanced humans raised from Eugenics-era embryos by the scientist Arik Soong. Strong, intelligent and utterly lacking restraint, he emerged as the leader of Soong's Augment children and pushed them toward violence rather than the peaceful future their creator imagined.
After freeing themselves and seizing a Klingon Bird-of-Prey, the Augments raided a secure medical facility for more embryos, and Malik showed his brutality by threatening and killing those who stood in his way. He then plotted to attack a Klingon colony with a deadly pathogen and make it appear to be the work of Earth, hoping to ignite a war that would leave the Augments free to rise.
Archer and Enterprise thwarted the scheme, and Malik was killed in the confrontation that followed. His actions confirmed Archer's distrust of genetic enhancement, and the Klingons' interest in Augment technology set off their own disastrous experiments, which explained the changed appearance of Klingons in the original series.
