A Klingon commander who appears in Day of the Dove.
Kang is a Klingon commander who first appears in the original series episode Day of the Dove, played by Michael Ansara. After his ship is crippled, he and his crew, including his wife and science officer Mara, end up aboard the Enterprise, where an alien entity that feeds on hatred keeps both crews locked in an endless fight. Kang and Kirk eventually join forces and drive the creature away with laughter.
In the Deep Space Nine episode Blood Oath, Kang reunites with Kor, Koloth and Jadzia Dax, who as Curzon had sworn an oath with them to avenge the murder of their firstborn sons, including Kang's son, Curzon's godson, by a criminal called the Albino. Kang dies during their assault on the Albino's stronghold, and the oath is fulfilled.
He also appears in the Voyager episode Flashback, commanding a Klingon vessel that confronts Captain Sulu's Excelsior. Kang is remembered as one of the first Klingons portrayed as an honorable rival rather than a simple villain.
