Emergency training hologram modeled on Kathryn Janeway who mentored the young crew of the USS Protostar.
Hologram Janeway is the Emergency Training Holographic Advisor of the USS Protostar, an experimental Starfleet ship. Modeled on Kathryn Janeway, she is voiced by Kate Mulgrew, who also voices the real Janeway in Star Trek: Prodigy.
When a group of young escapees from a mining colony in the Delta Quadrant steal the Protostar, the hologram becomes their teacher. She trains Dal R'El, Gwyn, Rok-Tahk, Jankom Pog, Zero and Murf in the basics of Starfleet, from piloting and engineering to ethics, and helps shape them into a real crew. Over the first season she becomes a friend and guide, even as the crew discovers that the ship carries a dangerous weapon aimed at the Federation and that they are being hunted by the real Janeway's USS Dauntless and by the Diviner. She remains a source of advice for the young crew as their story continues.
Hologram Janeway carries Voyager's legacy into Prodigy and introduces younger viewers to Starfleet's ideals. Mulgrew's dual role links the hologram to the real admiral.
