After the Loom crisis the former Protostar crew entered Starfleet Academy. Then the First Contact Day attack on Mars in 2385 changed everything, and Kathryn Janeway was recalled to active duty.
Janeway had a new Protostar-class ship, the USS Prodigy, commissioned as a training ship for the young crew and gave them field commissions as ensigns. Dal gave up the captain's chair to Gwyn and served as her first officer, and Hologram Janeway joined them as an emergency command hologram.
