Cardassian commander who confronted the Maquis and Starfleet along the Demilitarized Zone, appearing across The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager.
Gul Evek is a Cardassian officer assigned to the volatile border region created by the treaty between the Federation and the Cardassian Union. He clashes with Benjamin Sisko over the Maquis, the Federation colonists who took up arms after their worlds were placed under Cardassian rule, and insists that Starfleet is quietly supporting the rebels.
In Tribunal, Evek arrests Miles O'Brien and hands him over to the Cardassian justice system, where the verdict is decided before the trial begins. He also appears in The Next Generation during the resettlement of colonists along the border, and in the Voyager pilot pursuing a Maquis ship into the Badlands.
