The Varon-T disruptor is a rare and banned weapon that kills by slowly tearing a victim's body apart from within.
Only a small number of Varon-T disruptors were ever made, and their manufacture and use are prohibited because of the agonizing death they inflict. The collector Kivas Fajo owned several as prized possessions.
After abducting Data in 2366, Fajo killed his assistant Varria with a Varon-T disruptor and threatened to kill others to force Data's cooperation. Data was on the point of firing the weapon at Fajo when he was transported back to the Enterprise, and the weapon was confiscated when Fajo was arrested.
