The Ventaxians are a humanoid people from Ventax II. According to their legend, a thousand years earlier their ancestors made a contract with a figure named Ardra, who granted them an age of peace and prosperity in exchange for the right to claim the planet and its people when the term ended.
In Devil's Due, a con artist claiming to be Ardra arrived to collect, using advanced technology to fake supernatural powers and terrify the Ventaxians. Picard challenged her claim in an arbitration presided over by Data and exposed the trickery behind her apparent miracles, freeing the Ventaxians from the bargain.
