The Dosi are a Gamma Quadrant people with brightly painted faces and a short temper at the bargaining table. They were among the first civilizations the Ferengi tried to trade with after the Bajoran wormhole opened, entertaining Grand Nagus Zek's ambitions for a large deal involving their tulaberry wine.
Quark led the negotiations aboard Deep Space Nine with the help of his clerk Pel, who was secretly a Ferengi woman in disguise. The Dosi could not supply the quantity Zek wanted, but they pointed the Ferengi toward the Dominion, marking the first time the name was heard by Alpha Quadrant powers.
