A destructive energy creature that menaced a Bajoran village each year, secretly formed from the villagers' own fears and controlled by their Sirah.
The Dal'Rok appeared as a crackling mass of energy in the sky above a remote Bajoran village, threatening to destroy it once a year. The village's storyteller, the Sirah, drove it away each time by telling a tale that united the people.
In The Storyteller, the dying Sirah named Miles O'Brien as his successor. O'Brien learned the creature was produced from the villagers' fear and anger through a fragment of a Bajoran orb, and that the Sirah used the same fragment to banish it once the people were united. The Sirah's apprentice Hovath later took up the role.
