Starbase Yorktown is a vast Federation starbase in the Kelvin timeline, seen in Star Trek Beyond. It is built from a set of interlocking rings and arms enclosed in a transparent shell, with streets, buildings and parks curving around the inside, and millions of people from many species live there. It sits at the edge of Federation space next to the Necro Cloud nebula.
The Enterprise stops at Yorktown for supplies during the third year of its five-year mission. While there, the crew answers a plea for help from an alien named Kalara and goes into the nebula, where the ship is torn apart by a swarm of small craft and crashes on the planet Altamid.
The swarm's leader, Krall, then attacks Yorktown in an attempt to release a deadly bioweapon inside it. Kirk and his crew, flying the old USS Franklin, disrupt the swarm and stop Krall inside the station. Commodore Paris commands the base.
