The Romulan drone ship was a remotely controlled warship of the 2150s. It was flown from a distant Romulan vessel by a captive Aenar telepath and fitted with holographic emitters that let it mimic the appearance of other species' ships.
In Babel One, the drone destroyed Shran's ship Kumari while disguised as a Tellarite vessel, part of a Romulan plan to provoke war among the powers that would later found the Federation. Through United and The Aenar, Archer's crew exposed the deception, learned that the pilot was a young Aenar named Gareb, and with the help of his sister Jhamel brought the scheme to an end.
