Borg probes were small Borg vessels of the late 24th century, comparable in size to Voyager but heavily armed. They operated alongside the cubes and spheres of the Collective in the Delta Quadrant and carried data nodes holding tactical information.
In Dark Frontier, Voyager destroyed a Borg probe by beaming a photon torpedo aboard. Seven of Nine recovered data nodes from the debris, and their information led Voyager to a damaged Borg sphere, which Janeway planned to raid for its transwarp coil.
