A vast desert on Vulcan, home to the Syrrannite movement and where Archer and T'Pol found the Kir'Shara, the original teachings of Surak.
The Forge is a huge and dangerous desert region on the planet Vulcan. Sandstorms, electrical fire and hostile creatures make it hard to cross, but it also holds religious sites tied to Vulcan's past. Its history is bound up with the philosopher Surak and his teachings of logic and peace, and many seekers travelled into the desert in search of his wisdom.
In 2154 the Vulcan High Command blamed the Syrrannites, a group based in the Forge, for a bombing of the Earth embassy. Captain Jonathan Archer and T'Pol went into the Forge to find out the truth. Archer received Surak's katra and, with the Syrrannites, found the Kir'Shara, an artefact holding Surak's original writings. When it was revealed, it exposed the High Command's corruption and its secret alliance with the Romulans.
The Forge is important to Vulcan culture and history. The discovery of the Kir'Shara led to the fall of the High Command and a return to Surak's teachings, changing the Vulcans and their relations with Earth.
