Mount Seleya

Sacred Vulcan mountain

A sacred Vulcan site where the katra is returned.

Mount Seleya is a sacred mountain on Vulcan, which is the site of the Hall of Ancient Thought. It is regarded as a place of great spiritual significance, where Vulcan teaching on logic and the preservation of the katra are practised. It is a remote place, and visitors are rare.
The mountain is the home of the Vulcan high priestess and priests, who maintain the rituals that are used to preserve the essence of a Vulcan's consciousness. The temple at the top is a place of ritual, and it is a place where Vulcans from all over the planet come to seek guidance and spiritual renewal.
In Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Mount Seleya is where Spock's katra is reunited with his body in the fal-tor-pan ritual. The ceremony is performed by T'Lar, with Kirk, McCoy and others present, and it restores Spock's mind and memories. The mountain also appears in other stories, and it remains one of the most important locations in Vulcan culture.
