Minos was a planet that grew rich by selling weapons, until its own automated weapons system wiped out its people.
Minos lies in the Lorenze Cluster and was once known for selling advanced weapons to all sides of other people's conflicts. In The Arsenal of Freedom the Enterprise went there to search for the USS Drake, which had vanished while surveying the planet.
The away team found the world empty except for an automated sales demonstration that was still running. Intelligent weapon probes, which adapted to every countermeasure, attacked the crew and the ship. Picard learned that the system had destroyed the Minosians and the Drake, and he shut it down by agreeing to buy it from a holographic salesman.
