Jeraddo is the fifth moon of Bajor. In Progress, the Bajoran provisional government plans to tap its molten core to provide energy for the recovering planet, a project that will leave the moon unable to support life, and all its inhabitants must be evacuated.
The last holdout is the farmer Mullibok, who came to Jeraddo around forty years earlier after escaping the Cardassians and regards it as home. Kira's assignment to remove him becomes a test of her loyalties, and she finally burns his cottage so the project can proceed.
