The small Oklahoma town where the Klingon courier Klaang crash-landed in 2151, setting Enterprise's first mission in motion.
Broken Bow is a farming town in Oklahoma. In 2151 the Klingon Klaang crashes his ship in a field there while fleeing Suliban pursuers. He kills both of them but is then badly wounded by a local farmer, leaving Starfleet with an injured alien and a diplomatic problem.
The incident leads Captain Archer to argue that the new Enterprise should carry Klaang home to Qo'noS rather than leave him to the Vulcans, and the ship's launch is moved forward. The town gives its name to Broken Bow, the opening story of the series.
