Zoe Saldaña (born 1978) is an American actress who became one of the highest-grossing film stars through roles in Avatar and as Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, and she won an Academy Award for Emilia Pérez.
Saldaña played Nyota Uhura in Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) and Star Trek Beyond (2016). The films give Uhura an expanded role as a gifted linguist and communications officer, and depict a romantic relationship between her and Spock. In Into Darkness she addresses a Klingon patrol in their own language.
