Robert Picardo

Actor — The Doctor

American actor who played Voyager's Emergency Medical Hologram, known simply as the Doctor, and his creator Lewis Zimmerman.

Robert Picardo is an American actor, born in 1953, known before Star Trek for Captain Dick Richard on China Beach, Coach Cutlip on The Wonder Years and a long collaboration with director Joe Dante, including Innerspace.
On Star Trek: Voyager, Picardo played the Doctor, the ship's Emergency Medical Hologram, activated full time after the medical staff died in Caretaker. Over seven seasons the program grew from a curt stopgap into a fully realized individual who sang opera, wrote a holonovel and fought for recognition of his rights, notably in Author, Author. He also played the hologram's designer, Lewis Zimmerman, and appeared as the EMH in Star Trek: First Contact and as both roles in the Deep Space Nine episode Doctor Bashir, I Presume.
Picardo later played Richard Woolsey in the Stargate franchise and voiced the Doctor again in Star Trek: Prodigy. He serves on the board of directors of The Planetary Society.
