Robert Beltran

Actor — Chakotay

American actor who played Chakotay, the former Maquis leader who became Voyager's first officer, throughout the series.

Robert Beltran is an American actor, born in 1953, with a long career on stage in California. He first gained wide notice as Raoul in the 1982 black comedy Eating Raoul.
On Star Trek: Voyager he played Commander Chakotay from 1995 to 2001. Chakotay began the series as captain of a Maquis ship pursued into the Delta Quadrant, and after its loss in Caretaker accepted the post of first officer under Kathryn Janeway, serving as a bridge between the Maquis and Starfleet crews. His often tense but loyal partnership with Janeway became one of the show's defining relationships, and the character's Native American heritage was explored throughout the series.
Beltran returned to the role years later, voicing Chakotay in the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy, and he has continued to act on stage.
