Garrett Wang is an American actor, born in 1968, who began performing while a student at UCLA, including a 1993 stage production of Chay Yew's play Porcelain in Los Angeles.
Shortly afterward he was cast as Harry Kim on Star Trek: Voyager, where he played the ship's earnest operations officer from the pilot Caretaker in 1995 to the finale in 2001. Kim, fresh out of Starfleet Academy when Voyager was stranded, served as the voice of youthful idealism among the crew and formed a close friendship with Tom Paris. The character's long stay at the rank of ensign became a running joke among fans. One of his strongest showcases was Timeless, in which an older Kim tries to undo a disaster that destroyed the ship.
After Voyager, Wang appeared as the villain Garan in the fan production Star Trek: Of Gods and Men and has remained active on the Star Trek convention circuit.
