Terra Prime crisis

Xenophobic attack on Starfleet Command from Mars

In 2155 the isolationist group Terra Prime seized a Mars array and threatened Starfleet Command, hoping to drive aliens from Earth as talks on an interstellar coalition began.

John Frederick Paxton, leader of Terra Prime, believed humanity should cut itself off from other species. As Earth hosted talks among the powers that would form the Coalition of Planets, his group took over the verteron array on Mars and aimed it at Starfleet Command.
To show what he feared, Paxton revealed Elizabeth, a child he had created from the DNA of T'Pol and Trip Tucker as proof that humans and aliens were mixing. Archer's crew infiltrated his base and stopped the array before it could fire, but the girl could not be saved and died soon after.
Paxton was arrested, and Archer used the moment to speak to the conference about the need for cooperation among worlds. His words helped move the delegates forward, and the talks led toward the Coalition of Planets and, in 2161, the founding of the United Federation of Planets.
