In 2374 the Hirogen captured Voyager and forced its crew to play roles in holodeck battles, until Janeway negotiated a truce.
In 2374 a Hirogen force led by Karr took control of Voyager. They implanted neural devices in the crew so that each person believed they were a character in a holodeck program, and expanded the holodecks across several decks to hunt them in staged battles, including a Second World War scenario in occupied France.
The Doctor, who was unaffected, worked to remove the devices from the crew. Fighting broke out across the ship before Janeway and the Hirogen reached a truce. Janeway gave the Hirogen holographic technology so they could hunt simulated prey.
