In 2154 Archer, Shran and Trip Tucker traveled to Andoria's northern wastes and made contact with the Aenar, a reclusive, telepathic Andorian people unknown to most outsiders.
The Romulans had abducted an Aenar named Gareb and forced him to pilot their drone ships, so Archer needed the Aenar's help to break the link. In the ice caverns of Andoria the group met the pacifist Aenar, who were blind and wary of the outside world.
The Aenar Jhamel, Gareb's sister, agreed to come aboard Enterprise and reach Gareb telepathically. The contact showed that the Andorians themselves were more diverse than they let on, and it helped end the Romulan drone threat.
