In 2278 the USS Bozeman, a Soyuz-class ship commanded by Captain Morgan Bateson, disappeared near the Typhon Expanse. It was caught in a temporal causality loop and did not reappear until 2368, when it emerged from a rift and collided with the USS Enterprise-D, destroying it and setting the loop in motion again.
The Enterprise crew relived the same events many times, each time with stronger feelings of deja vu. Data sent himself a subconscious message in the form of the number three, which led him to change course and break the loop. Bateson learned that ninety years had passed.
